Palliative care is the combination of active and compassionate therapies aimed at reducing the symptoms and suffering of individuals and families facing a life-threatening illness. It strives to meet physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs while remaining sensitive to personal, cultural, and religious values, beliefs, and practices.
Patients diagnosed with a life-threatening illness find that palliative care can help them, whether or not they are receiving anti-disease treatment. Most people find that their quality of life is improved when symptoms and suffering have been addressed.
In addition to medical care in home or in hospital, we can provide the individual and/or family member(s) with counselling support. Palliative care professionals work together with the patients' existing doctors, nurses, and other caregivers to provide them with the very best palliative care possible.
